Contents

This course guides students through the entire Mathematics syllabus. There are 46 individual modules, each explaining a single topic in full from beginning to end. Each module is followed by exam-style questions on that topic, allowing you to reinforce your knowledge of every single topic and to track your progression.

Alongside the modules and exam-style questions that acclimatise you to the final assessments, you will gain access to our live online classes. All of our video classes are archived according to topic, available to watch as many times as possible.

The learning resources within this course are all tailor-made by LCC Learning’s academic team and tutors, drawing on our familiarity with the syllabus and our experience of teaching each of the topics listed here.

You need no external learning material to make the most of this course. It is self-contained, with all topics and concepts fully explained. It is tailored to the Edexcel GCSE Higher Mathematics course specification 1MA1 but would be suitable for any student working towards the GCSE Mathematics exam, or anyone looking to improve their mathematical understanding and numerical skills.

Mock Assessments

Because the Mathematics GCSE grade is awarded based on the student’s performance in exams, familiarising yourself with the assessment process and practising the tests is an essential component of success in the subject.

Every topic on the syllabus is covered individually in this course, with its own dedicated questions and assignments, allowing you to reinforce your knowledge of every single topic and to track your progression. When you feel you are ready, make sure to try the end-of-unit tests, which present you with a series of questions very similar to what you will encounter in the final exams.

Requirements

As this course follows the GCSE syllabus, it is appropriate for anyone who has finished Key Stage 3 (or equivalent) before attempting it. Any adult, and school students who have reached the end of Year 9 (in the UK education system) will be well-placed to get the most out of the course.

How you will study

Whereas a classroom-based learning programme requires adherence to a fixed schedule, and force you to work at athe same pace as other students, LCC Learning’s GCSE online courses are fully flexible; tackle as much or as little of the content as you require, as many times as you want, in whatever order you prefer, at whatever pace suits you. This course is the perfect choice if you need to fit your studies around existing commitments like family life and work.

As long as you are subscribed to this online course you have access to all course materials, including modules, assessments and assignments, and live and archived video classes. The contents are presented in order to allow a recommended linear progression through the syllabus, but you can just as easily jump straight into the topics that you know you need to focus on. Whatever stage of learning you are at, LCC Learning can help.

Each module explains an individual topic on the syllabus, with examples and diagrams provided to aid comprehension. Each module is followed by a series of questions on that same topic, so you can check whether you understand it so far. 46 seperate modules and quizzes allow you to make your way through the entire syllabus thoroughly and systematically, tracking your progress.

We recommend using a computer for this course, rather than a phone or tablet.

Careers and Employability

GCSEs are among the world’s most recogniseable qualifications, and as such are likely to enhance your employability both domestically and internationally. They indicate proficiency in core skills with the potential to raise your achivement in a range of professional disciplines. With thousands of private GCSE candidates every year, it is never too late to study for a new qualification.

The knowledge you will acquire from covering the GCSE Mathematics syllabus forms the core of a variety of vocational paths. Any career requiring the use of a calculator or spreadsheet requires understanding of the process of a calculation, even if the calculation is done for you. Mathematics is therefore essential for anyone intending to work in finance and banking, computer science, programming and coding, statistics and market research. It is also a prerequisite to working in any science-related field. Even industries in which Mathematics is not intrinsically involved value proven skill in the subject, as it indicates numerical awareness, critical thinking, spatial awareness and problem-solving. Mathematical skills are sought after by employers and will improve your earning power.

About LCC Learning

LCC Learning offers centre-based and online tuition for all ages, ranging from early learning years to adult learning. Founded in 2014, our first centre was opened upon the belief that we could provide two things: bespoke private tuition and a stimulating learning environment away from home. Since then, we have expanded to more locations and seen great success stories from our students. Our students not only receive the focused attention they miss out on in school, but also build on their learning under the supervision of our tutors. This formula maximises a student’s chance of academic success, grows their confidence, and builds a robust skill set in independent study.
